Abstract | An experimental program was carried out to investigate the shear carrying capacity of precast - prestressed hollow slabs with concrete topping in which Tests were conducted on no shear reinforcements provided. 10 simply supported beams with static two- points loading. The main parameters which were investigated in this report are prestressing force and thickness of concrete topping . Cracking is carefully observed based on the visible crack on the concrete surface . Deflection at midspan, strain increment of concrete and reinforcing steel as well as slip between precast element and topping concrete were measured. The behavior of the entire composite section against bending and shear can be observed. Prestressing force in precast element affects the shear cracking strength greatly but has little effect on t h e ultimate s h ear strength, while shear cracking strength and ultimate shear strength can be increased by increasing the topping thickness. This report also proposes a method to predict the shear cracking strength and ultimate shear strength of composite precast prestressed hollow sections. The predicted strengths and the experimental values are in good agreement. |
