Abstract An experimental investigation was conducted to evaluate the performance of an orthotropic steel bridge deck paved with epoxy asphaltic concrete subjected to a repetition cyclic load. It involved; the use and mixing procedure of epoxy asphaltic concrete on steel plate and determination of a suitable mix proportion for use in paving orthotropic steel bridge deck. An S - N curve, for the orthotropic steel bridge deck paved with epoxy asphaltic concrete was experimentally developed. The test results indicate that: epoxy asphaltic concrete which contains local aggregate has an average percent air void less than that required by the manufacturer. The S - N curve of steel plates paved with epoxy asphaltic concrete is developed between the range of 15 to 30% of the ultimate load. Two modes of failure were observed. The five tested specimens failed because of tension cracks originating in the top fiber of the epoxy asphaltic concrete. In one specimen there was a combination of cracking in the top fiber and bond failure at the interface.
