Abstract | Modern switching system which employ common control or central processing .architecture
can be tested by load simulation. Practical traffic problems are quite often too complex for
solution by theoretical analysis alone. The difficulty is due to a large number of parameters, to
be handled for modelling realistic traffic. Analytical method fails to deal realistically with large
number of specific operational characteristic, along with user's behavior.
This thesis models the realistic traffic and generates it to the simplified switching model
consisting of two queues. In order to observe what is happening inside the exchange a macro for
monitoring the traffic is provided. As the system is structurally designed, it is flexible and
expandable. The software has wide range of capability to replicate the user's behavior and to
intermix different classes of traffic. It is applicable in the performance evaluation of realistic
multislot traffic. The effect of reattempts and trunk reservation · parameters in the bandwidth
allocation strategies are observed using the simulator. |
