Abstract | The application of prefabrication system for high-rise building construction in Bangkok was
studied. The scope of this study is limited to a consideration of precast or pre-stressed concrete.
Advantages and disadvantages of using prefabrication for the construction were differentiated using
the collected data performed by means of site visiting and interviewing of four construction projects
in Bangkok. A comparison between prefabrication and c~t-in-Elac~ system regarding construction
cost and time was also .accomplished through the use of estimating. The parts of high-rise building
which are appropriate to be prefabricated were recommended.
The results indicated that the majors advantages of using prefabrication system are repetitive
use of form work, better surface quality and simplicity in form work arrangement whereas the substantial disadvantages are scarcity of skilled form work fabricators, unattractiveness of joints aesthetically and need of heavy equipment. The construction cost and time of using prefabrication
system is considerably less than that of cast-in-place system. Stair and facade panel were found to
be appropriate to be prefab1icated. |
