Abstract | The purpose of this research study is to develop software tools for generating t. he microcode f:or a given set. or registers with associated control signals and instruction set with associated microoperations. Control signals for the microoperations were derived considering the registers involved in the microoperation. The horizontal microinstruction format was obtained and microinstructions for the defined set of instruction was derived. The horizontal microinstruction format was converted to vertical microinstruction The Control store was then converted to two level store microstore and nanostore and control store memory requirements were compared. Simulation of program with subset of the instructions was carried out in terms of horizontal and vertical microinstruction and the execution time for each was compared. Software tools for width minimization of microinstruction were also developed and the number of bits required after minimization were compared. |
