Abstract | This research study has developed a control methodology
founded on the knowledge- based approach . It is a non- numerical
technique which uses two levels of different knowledge-bases. The
shallow knowledge which is the first level, is represented by a
set of rules. It is used to select a proper control action. The
rules are based both on the experience knowledge a nd predictive
knowledge , obtained from qualitative reasoning . The second level
is deep knowledge. This is represented by qualitative models.
It is used to predict and explain the behavior of the plant.
Qualitative mode l are based on qualitative physics, obtained from
the model differential equation of the plant.
The controller uses measurement and current conditions in
state space , defined by t he error level of tank2, a nd the rate of
changes of level of t an k2 . The state variable has three values ; + ,
0, - a nd two additional variables; more positive ( ++ ) and more
negative (- - ) .
Th e system is verified a nd demonstrated by a coupled tanks ·
plant, where fourth border Runge-Kutta simulation method is
implemented . Some experiments are carried out to measure the
performance of the system such as stability and time response. |
