Abstract | Integrated project delivery (IPD) has been new for the Recent studies have shown there is high level of inefficiencies, wastage, and overruns in construction projects of Nepal. Construction projects of Nepal still rely on traditional PDS. The PDS used in construction projects of Nepal are fragmented where the works are divided into smaller packets rather than focusing on ensuring that everyone’s work fits together. Hence a strategy to overcome this fragmentation, to integrate the project team with the process is required. Integrated Project delivery (IPD) system has been identified because it is the solution to beat this fragmentation by integrating the expertise of all the participants involved within the project. In this study the level of IPD characteristics present in building projects of Nepal are assessed and the impact those characteristics have on 3 different criteria of project success namely- time performance, cost performance and quality performance are evaluated. This study also aims at evaluating the underlying factors that influence in motivating the project participants to apply the characteristics of IPD in medium sized building projects of Nepal. The result illustrated that the characteristics of IPD are present in very low to medium level in medium sized building projects of Nepal. It was also evident that the characteristics of IPD had significant impact on time performance and cost performance. The result also illustrates that critical risk to be managed, uncompromisable schedule and technical complexity are the underlying factors that influence the characteristics of IPD in medium sized building projects of Nepal. |
