Abstract | The combined process of ozonation with Hydrogen Peroxide and followed by Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) adsorption has high performed on the removal efficiency of micro-organic pollutants included natural organic matter (NOM) and volatile organic substance such as Trichloroethylene (TCE). NOM is removed entirely by GAC adsorption in combined process. TCE is almost oxidized by O3 /H2 O2 coupling. This study has compared the GAC columns with two different bed heights of 0.8 m and 1.3 m under same empty bed contact time. The organic matter removal performance has been found no different between both GAC columns during the operation. The breakthrough time would almost be the same and was expected to be after 1,000 hours operation. The addition of hydroxyl contribution of chemical oxidation continuous O3 /H2 O2 coupling radicals can increase the in up to 50 % of TCE removal in TCE was found more easily reacting with ozone than NOM in semi-batch type ozonation. |
