Abstract | The FeiTsui Reservoir, with backwater length about 22 Kilometers and the maximum depth about 112.5 meters, is one of the largest and deepest. reservoirs in Taiwan . The distribution of water quality concentration in the flow (X-d1rect1on) and the vertical direction (Z-direct1on) ls not. homogeneous. In order to obtain proper simulation of reservoir water quality, the reservoir water body 1s d1v1cled 1nto two layers in the vertical direction and 18 segments in the flow direction. 'The water quality in the lateral is assumed homogeneous due to ita small variation. The selected constituents for model simulation are chlorophyll a, organic phosphorus phosphate, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, biochemical oxygen demand and dissolved oxygen. In this study, a simplified hydrodynamic model is developed to simulate the hydrodynamics of reservoir water body and linked H. to water quality model to simulate the selected water quality constituents. The Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program (WASP) used here has been developed by TT. S. Manhattan Colledge and U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (RPA). With the use of data in 1990 and l 991 , calculation is made of the reservoir hydrodynamics and stored The results for the use of water quality simulation. Throughout the use of data for model calibration in l 990 and for mod el verification in 1991, The model simulation provides reasonable results. This model also showed its applicability and reliability which could be used as a tool for further water quality planning and prediction. |
