AbstractDuring the recent years, there was the major growth in electronics industry of Thailand. However, the industry development seems to be limited at some extent because the technological capability of productive firms could not be developed at the same rate as industrial requirements. This research attempted to identify the ·determinants and environmental conditions which contribute to firm's level of technological capability. The current situation of electronics industry was reviewed and in-depth case study on 6 electronics based companies were conducted to identify ·such determinants and conditions. According to findings of this research, some determinants of firm's technological capability were identified such as the firm's supportive environment factors and firm's internal factors. The strategies for technological capability development at the industry and firm level were proposed in order to develop firm's technological capability into higher level.
