AbstractThe project governance factors from higher management level to the project management level affecting on project performance in construction projects in Myanmar are focused in this research. The practical project governance factors in construction projects are studied at first and then the relationship between these factors and project performance of the building construction projects in Myanmar is analyzed by both quantitative and qualitative approach. Construction project performance is measured in terms of time, cost, quality and client’s satisfaction and then, the project governance factors from higher management level to govern the project manager are grouped into 6 groups; roles and responsibilities, project management monitor and control, decision-making, higher management level support, empowerment and accountability. For quantitative approach, this study is conducted by collecting data from 60 respondents (project managers) via face-to-face questionnaires survey in Yangon, Myanmar and simple linear regression analysis is utilized to fulfill the objective of the research. In qualitative research, a case study is conducted to observe the effectiveness of project governance factors in the building construction projects in Myanmar. According to the finding of this research, it is pointed out that these project governance factors have significant effect on construction project performance in Myanmar
