AbstractThe thesis has attempted to present the current status of construction joint ventures in Nepal by making case studies of such joint ventures and identifying the problems they face. The problems befog faced by the local contractors, regarded as the main problems in construction industry, have been classified and ranked after analyzing the data collected through the questionnaire survey and the interviews. An attempt has been made to find out to what extent these problems could be solved through joint ventures by using the experience of Thailand, in the context of Nepal. Finally recommendations have been made to promote the formation of construction joint ventures that would enable the transfer of technology and managerial skill to take place, thereby developing the construction industry in Nepal. Possible solutions have been proposed in order to promote the formation of construction joint ventures and at the same time enable the local contractors to prosper by preserving their interest.
