AbstractIn order to investigate the wind potential in Pingtan Island, Fujian, this study analyzes a possible wind pilot proj ect and wind programme financially and economically, throu gh reviews of windmills, windmill projects , the economics of windmill projects a nd criteria for choice, as well as the loca l wind regime. The met hodology applied in this study is: the calculation of annual electricity generated at the site, which is chosen and describ ed in detail ; the calculation of financial and economic parameters for energy project analysis, which is done through a GTZ computer programme. From the results, it is cert ain that wind potential in Pingtan Island is signifi can t, t he wind pilot project and wind programme can run profitably, and thus it is suggested that further actions to be taken rapidly.
