Abstract | The study analyzes selected few theories with the view points
of different social thinkers. The conflict social theorists
overlook class- integration whereas functionalist theorists are
biased towards social equilibrium. Some of the structural theories
reject the human agency as important element of social change
whereas non- structural theories emphasize in human agency aspect
Th e study focuses mainly on Scott's dyadic concept of Public
Transcript and Hidden Transcript, and Sen ' s Gender Cooperation
Conflict. Both Scott and Sen lay emphasis on human agency aspect,
though they look upon structural conflict in social settings too.
Their models have been analyzed and found out that the
shortcomings of each can be supplemented or gaps can be fitted by
each other ' s model. An attempt has been made to apply these two
models together in both Strategic and Practical Needs for Gender
Planning. |
