Abstract | This thesis presents the results of an investigation on
shearing characteristics, porewater pressure and volume change
measurements of Ayuthaya sand . The stress strain parameters were
determined by triaxial testing apparatus and constant volume
direct shear box apparatus. Both consolidated and unconsolidated
tests were performed by UU, CIU and CID tests. In this study,
remolded specimens of sand were prepared by compaction method at
different water contents. The results shows t hat both degree of
compa ctness and mo lding water content have significant effect on
pore pressure d eve lopment and stress strain characteristics of
compa cted sand. The strength and pore pressure development of
sand specimen are found to be functions of water content and
density of sand. Specimen prepared at water content in the dry
side of optimum yielded higher strength and lower excess pore
pressure than those compacted on wet side of optimum water
content . |
