Abstract | This research presents an investigation over the channel· estimation for the
Gaussian filtered minimum shift keying (GMSK) modulation system by using a training
sequence. It presents the principle and model for channel estimation by using a training
sequence. It investigates the properties of the training sequence used for the channel
estimation. It selects the optimum training sequence pair for the minimum shift keying
(MSK) modulation system based on the properties of the perfect autocorrelation
sequences. By using the selected optimum training sequence, it simulates the channel
estimation processing for the ideal and practical channels. It presents the estimation results
for the GMSK and MSK systems. The results demonstrates that it is realizable to estimate
the system impulse response by using a training sequence. And it is possible to get the
maximum likelihood estimation result while the training sequence has the best
autocorrelation properties and the minimum crosscorrelation properties.
