Abstract | Enhancing small-scale industries has been viewed as an effective way of fostering the private sector's contribution to both the growth and equity of development in developing countries since it has potential capabilities for strengthening industrial structure, and it has important role to play towards enhancing economic growth, increasing industrial efficiency, absorbing employment and poverty alleviation. Indonesia as a developing country, concerned with the the development of small-scale industry. Since there are some scarcity of resources,it is suggested that the development be more selected and focussed. The selection of small-scale food industries involved many aspects such as socio-political aspect and potential growth aspect which have different types of data~ both qualitative and quantitative . . This is further complicated by the fact that either of these types of data can contain critical information, and there are also conflicts between those aspects. Therefore multicritera decision model is required for solving this problem. The techniques known as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used here. Hence questionnaires based on AHP model were distributed to the respondents from Bappeda (Regional Developing Planning Agency) and industrial department in West Java Province who were involved directly in development planning either in regional (Bappeda) or in linked sector (industrial department). Based on the result of this study, we recommended the West Java government to take attempts to promote palm sugar by improving its marketing. It is suggested that those attempts should be supported by providing financial support. The result was derived by using Geometric Mean consensus method. The comparison of the result derived by some consensus methods such as Borda Kendall Method, Mean Rank, Mean Eigenvalue, Arithmetic Mean was also made. |
