AbstractThis study concerns with discrete-event simulation for production planning. A semiautomate production line of a machining factory is examined in this study. The purpose is to "Fine tune" the performance of the existing system by evaluating alternative designs of production systems using the simulator - SIMPLE++. Alternative designs are compared by simulation with the performance measures that are machine utilization, production rate and production lead-time. The models are simulated by using past record data from the factory for line layout, processing time, part routing, worker activities, machine breakdown history as well as using data for future demands.
