Abstract | Construction is amorphous and diverse industry. Its complexity requires to take strategy planning to improve the industry. Indonesia, whose construction industry has not been so successful, should also undertake strategy planning . However, strategy planning in construction is yet an underdeveloped discipline. This study attempts to highlight the strategic planning process based on the evaluation of the past development of the Indonesian construction industry and the country's determinants which includes the industry's structural components - the competitors, market segment, suppliers, resources and stakeholders - as advanced by Porter. This study has presented the Indonesian construction industry environment for the strategic planning process and suggested four aspects that should be improved: - Human resources aspect - Financial aspect - Information aspect - Industry entry barrier aspect |
