| Abstract | Purpose - The purpose of this research study is to analyse the effect that the sub-categories of intellectual capital exert on external technology acquisition, and to test how organizational slack resources and competitive intensity effect that relation. Methodology - Data collection was done via questionnaires. A total of 153 responses from manufacturing organizations with operations in the Kingdom of Thailand were used for the study. Multiple regression analysis was conducted on the data. Findings - The results from the regression analysis suggest that human, organizational and social capital assert a significantly positive impact on external technology acquisition. The research, however, did not find evidence to support the argument that organizational slack and competitive intensity moderates the relationship between the sub-categories of intellectual capital and external technology acquisition. Positive relationship between organizational slack and the dependent variable was also found. Implications - The results of this research offer suggestions for managers which will allow them to increase their rate of success when acquiring technology. Managers should implement measures to improve the levels of human, organizational and social capital in their organization. Novelty -This study contributes to the literature on intellectual capital by examining the impact of the components of intellectual capital on external technology acquisition. |
