Abstract | With a pressing need to upgrade productivity, manufacturing industries are turning
more toward computer-based flexible automation. Nowadays, much of our automated
manufacturing tasks are carried out by hardwired automation designed to perform
predetermined functions. The inflexibility of these machines has led to a broad interest in the
use of industrial robots. In line with that, the teaching, training and research of industrial
robots at the universities and institutes are becoming more and more necessary and important.
The objective of this research is to plan and set up an industrial-robot-cell, the case of
KUKA robot, for the purpose of teaching, training and research at AIT. The research mainly
concentrates on the exploiting the available capabilities of the KUKA robot and its off-line
programming system; and also study the approach to the industrial robots and its applications
in industry. |
