Abstract | Prefabricated construction has become more important in Thai construction industry. It ·has been known as a mean to improve the speed of construction. However, a large number of Thai engineers and workers are not familiar with the design and the construction of fully prefabricated buildings. The manufacture of prefabricated components is considered to be fruitful only if they are supported by a considerably large project. Incidentally, the standardization of prefabricated components has not been in general acceptance. This thesis intends to establish a catalogue of prefabricated components based on modular coordination concept which is a tool to optimize and standardize the variation in dimensions of buildings. The catalogue is established based on frame structural system containing various types of column and beam cross sections together with their load resisting capacity and their connections to other components. Furthermore, this thesis intends to simplify the design of a fully prefabricated building and also give engineering designers confidence to use the prefabricated frame system in their structures. Thus two example buildings are used to illustrate the application of the catalogue and the stability of the frame system used. |
