AbstractMaterial requirement planning (MRP) has gained wide-spead acceptance in recent years for the purpose of production planing and control. MRP technique is based on infinite capacity planning. Overload of resource capacity to realize a given production plan relies on the user to resolve it by trial and error. A finite capacity MRP algorithm is developed in this thesis. For this purpose scheduling methodology and the traditional MRP are integrated for generating a feasible production plan allocated with in the available capacity. Capacity constraints are considered during scheduling. A finite capacity MRP software is designed and developed according to an algorithm. Efficiency of the algorithm has been evaluated from results of the software. The performance of the developed algorithm and traditional MRP are then compared to each other at three different level of available capacity by using based on criteria such as data requirement, feasibility of output, computation procedure and the time consumed in their computation (CPU) time.
