Abstract | To achieve on-time delivery, deviation of job completion times from their due
dates must be minimized. The accurate prediction of completion time is crucial to the on-time
delivery performance in either the case when the due dates are set internally by the scheduler
or externally by the customers. This paper presents an approach to predict due date of jobs
using factory signature curve (FSC) in a job shop with multiple products. A procedure for
generating the FSC and how to use it is proposed. It is found that the information obtained
from factory signature analysis could potentially be utilized to accurately predict due dates for
the purpose of order promising. |
