AbstractThis thesis study is the case of Siemens Ltd., The main problem of company is on the production-planning department since the beginning stage of capacity planning. If the capacity planning has mistakes, then it will make the further scheduling infeasible. It causes production the products finish late and cannot satisfy customer. MRP II has many shortcomings; espec iall y it ignores the capacity constraints of the manufacturing equipment and worker that are needed for production of the planned order quantity of the product during MPS generation process. If actual resource capacity is not enough, then that plan will be unattainable, and necessary to rescheduling. The main objective of this study is to generate the MPS as per available capacity. Rough Cut Capacity Planning shou ld be feasible in the shop floor at the beginning stage of planning. Two conditions of capacity, Infinite capacity and Finite capacity, are proposed in the study. The algorithm of schedu ling uses concept of backward and forward scheduling. The software is developed and proposed for the production planner to make rough cut capacity planning and production planning easier and reduce the computation time by using Microsoft Access. Final ly, future research related to this study is suggested.
