Abstract | Last decades many Japanese contractors have aggressively extended foreign market especially in South East Asia because of their huge demand of infrastructure in conjunction with their rapid economic growth. However recent economic crisis spreading to these region and subsequent political and social turmoil might have forced contractors to rethink their strategy and also reminded the importance of risk management. In such circumstance MRTA Initial System Project, first subway project in Bangkok, was awarded to the joint venture consisting of Thai and Japanese contractors. This project is predicted to involve many technical, managerial, contractual or political uncertainties other than above economic uncertainty. By preliminary study, current project cost is estimated to have certain increase compared with the estimation at bidding stage. Such increase are assumed to incur due to above risks. On the basis of such assumption, this thesis intends to identify above risks involved in each cost, i.e. material, equipment, subcontractor cost of both tunnel and station project, and apply "influence diagram method" to analyze their impact to such cost quantitatively, then assess whether such method is appropriate for the future monitoring of this project. |
