AbstractThis research study presents the architectural design of fault-tolerant computer systems that applied to the case of backup site for the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) in attempting to meet the system requirements. This design based on the critical applications and the existing architecture of the IBM mainframe. Classes of the existing hardware, software, and applications for fault-tolerant design are identified. The most important requirement is a new practical system design that is applicable. This design needs the selective hardware redundancy and tradeoffs to provide a high reliable system along with the Fault-Tolerant Multiprocessor (FTMP) feature is applied in the desired results. Also, the various evaluation procedures are verified for providing the high confidence computer systems to all users.
