AbstractOil and gas industry in offshore is one of the most risky industries. Especially, the offshore construction projects always encounter many different risks. Risks have a significant impact on offshore construction project's performance in term of causing time, cost overruns as well as poor quality. This raises an urgent need to survey risks as well as to assess risk management practice for managing risks better. This study concentrates on the identification of the major risks in the offshore platform fabrication project and proposes strategies to effectively mitigate major risks. The major risks identified are (1) Tight project schedule; (2) Poor design; (3) Late internal approved process from the owner; (4) Incompetence of project team; (5) Inappropriate fabrication program planning. The above findings of this project study are expected to contribute to identify major risks and more effective risk management process In fabrication stage of offshore platform project in Vietsovpetro join venture
