AbstractThe emergence of OTT companies and the popularity of Social Network pose increasing threat to traditional telecom industry, therefore it is of great significance for telecom operators to constantly develop new services. Multimedia conference is one of the concerned hot spot. Many approaches have been proposed for multimedia conferencing, although most of them are viable from the operational aspect, there are more or less drawbacks in the quality of service (QoS) and the conferencing cost, especially for international conferencing. As we known, the QoS of international call is highly affected by the interconnection between countries and the tariff is normally much higher than that of national call. We present in this study a Media Server (MS) based solution for multi-country group call by using the architecture peer-to-peer in control signaling but cascaded mixing in audio streams. The proposed service uses Social Network accounts to identify each user so that a user can have group talk with his friends on Social Networks via mobile phone. The new service also adopts Media Resource Broker to collect media resource information and properly allocate media server resource according to the enriched request generated by Application Server. We will show that the selection of the appropriate MS’s and the design of applicable architecture greatly improve user experience.
