AbstractThis thesis is concerned with creating a methodology for development of general realtime systems based on object-oriented software engineering and developing object-oriented models to real-time models which can present main real-time characteristics and capture requirements specification of general real-time applications. The proposed models emphasize three important functions of real-time systems: Controlling, Monitoring, and Alarm Management. The proposed designed models implemented as a RealTime package by using Java programming language as an implementation tool. Other real-time applications implemented with Java can include this package and extend classes of the package to fulfill the requirements of each application. A prototype of a subsystem of Building Automation System is implemented, based on proposed models, as a case study in order to support and test the proposed models.
