AbstractThe solid waste disposal service is a kind of urban infrastructure for which Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), through Department of Public Cleansing, is responsible. Huge amount of budget needed to fund for solid waste management yearly in order to keep pace with the rapidly increasing amount of generated waste. There are many ways and means to reduce the solid waste in which the waste generators could participate, but those efforts are far from amount satisfactory. BMA has not yet drawn necessary attention to address the integrated solid waste problem. There is a need to conduct an policy analysis framework to evaluate efficient strategies for reducing the solid waste in various components of the whole waste system. The up-to-date technologies for the solid waste management are incorporated for comparative purpose. The proper mix of technologies, together with relevant economic instruments, has been identified for the long-term solid waste planning and management.
