AbstractIn a world of rapid flux, organizations must change their priorities from a traditional focus on planning, control, and managed growth, to emphasized speed, innovation, flexibility, quality, service, and cost. It is virtually impossible to retrofit organizations into this new reality. Reengineering is the only solution. Reengineering begins with process design, but inevitably moves through all facets of the organization. It leads to an organization that differs from the old one in all respects. Reengineering make organizational process efficient and effective than before. Reengineering not only helps the organizations in preparing for the future challenges, but also provides a determined path to follow and to become a leader in the industry as an early starter. The most important lesson became self-evident: there are only two kinds of companies - those that are changing and those that are going out of business. The economic turmoil has forced the companies to shift their focus from sustainable growth to survival strategy. Drastic cut in sales, demanding customers and much needed change to step into the next millenium have made reengineering the only solution. In THI, magnitude and frequency of bottlenecks are high. It includes poor dissemination of information, poor decision-making, lack of information, duplication of work, more lead times, delay in performing tasks and eventually poor performance. All this indicates an immediate exercise of changing the system with the introduction of most suitable information technology tool. THI is in dire need of reengineering for its survival and stay competitive in the Thai market. The proposed reengineered solution will cut the cost and improve both the speed and quality as well as organizational structure.
