AbstractSri Lanka is agricultural based country. Therefore rainfall change or predictions are really important to Sri Lanka. Intermediate Zone is a very thin belt between Wet Zone and Dry Zone. There are no research have been conducted in order to analyze the trend in the Intermediate Zone. This research have been carried out in order to project the future rainfall for the periods near future (2030s), mid future (2050s) and far future (2080s). For this research three GCMs (BCC CSM1.1, CCSM4 and MIROC5) and two RCPs (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) have been selected. Linear bias correction method was used to remove the biasness from the downloaded data. Average annual rainfall will increase in the range of 111 mm to 402 mm (6percent - 22percent) for future period under RCP4.5 scenario. And average annual rainfall will increase in the range of 179 mm to 437 mm (10percent - 24percent) for the future period under RCP8.5 scenario. For future period 2030s under RCP4.5 scenario, the driest month is March (71 mm) and for the future periods 2050s and 2080s under RCP4.5 scenario, the driest month is July (92 mm and 88 mm rainfalls respectively). And for the future period 2030s, 2050s and 2080s under RCP8.5 scenario is March (67 mm, 75 mm and 90 mm respectively). Intermediate Zones will experience an increase in the average monthly rainfall except in the months of March, April and June-October. And there will be a significant increase in average monthly precipitation in November and December.
