AbstractKrungthep Bridge was recognized as one of the oldest bridges amongst the twelve bridges crossing over Chao Phraya River in Bangkok through preliminary studies. The main reason behind failure of most of the steel bridges was identified from previous literature to be fatigue failure. The requirement for the evaluation of the fatigue life of the aforementioned bridge was deemed to be important due to the oldness of the bridge. In the study, the analysis was carried out for the bridge across three different components, which were fatigue analysis for truss members due to axial forces, cross beams due to the bending moment, and joint analysis of plate shear stresses and bolt shear stresses. The traffic data for the analysis were provided by Ministry of Transport, Department of Rural Roads. In order to obtain the bending moment and axial forces of the critical members, the SAP 2000 software was incorporated. During the analysis phase three separate S-N curves were used for the aforementioned three analysis types. As the dynamic load for the study, standard Thai bus was used considering different configurations. The findings from the research study revealed that the Krungthep Bridge has infinite life time due to the fatigue.
