AbstractFinancial performance evaluation is an important aspect in business strategic management. When assessing the financial performance of a construction company there is a void in the knowledge, results and the practical scenario as most construction firms are project oriented. The most perfect way to deal with this cleft is by finding the relationship between the financial ratios and components influencing the performance of the organization. But in order to do so, one must understand the commonly used performance measurement practices, indicators and the practical implementations. Many researches has been done in this subject providing many performance indicators, strategic management systems and best used financial ratios in construction industry but has been unable to build a concrete study referring financial performance with the practical scenarios. This paper identifies seven key performance indicators used in the industry and by using ten financial ratios three construction companies in Thailand are evaluated. By doing so the study identifies five critical financial ratios a beginner could use to assess the performance. The study also provides useful practical implementation for financial terms for construction and illustrates that there is an indirect link between financial ratios and performance indicators providing recommendation for industry professionals.
