AbstractProportional - Integral - Derivative (PID) controllers have been applied very successfully in Petroleum industry as well as others. Basic PIO controllers are conventionally used for continuous feedback control. Recently digital computers are being used in increasing numbers to monitor and control the dynamic processes so digital PIO controllers based on new technology are introduced. In this thesis, improved version of PID controllers - Interconnection PID controllers is proposed to control system of dynamic interactive processes. Inter-connection PIO controllers are based on digital and network technology. The research integrates of Interconnection PID controllers' design and implementing, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition - SCADA system design and programming for interactive processes m chemical and petroleum industries. Inter-connection PIO controllers have been designed and implemented successfully to control Continuous Stirred- Tank Reactor - CSTR process in automation laboratory using Programmable Logic Controllers - PLCs and PLCs network provided by Siemens. SCADA system is also designed and programmed based in the same background. The system covered all the scopes of study: design and programming SCADA system with Interconnection PIO controllers, remote control tasks, system monitoring and display, data archives and presenting. SCADA functions based on PLC network have been found to be more beneficial to the operators and managers: providing the overview of system status, remote control abilities and data presentation by alarm, trend and on screen display. This research may also serve as a useful reference for exploring and understanding basic of SCADA system, PLCs network as well as automation network.
