Abstract | With various forms of fixed-line telecommunication data structures, billing and customer database managements could not be lived up to a common national standard. These particularly come up with many issues such as the fact identification, on-site technical support, and processing time of operator. All are happening in Vietnam and seem to become a perennial problem here. This study aims to reduce those problems by developing an online telecommunications information system based GIS technology accompanied by a routing management, network design, and statistical analysis tools. It was found that problems of fact identification, on-site technical support, and processing time could be minimized significantly. With a Geodatabase that can store both geographic and attribute data is very useful for operation and management of network and customers' location. Web GIS Based Telephone Outside Plant Information System that is convenient for getting information and management everywhere, every time. Online routing telephone network objects tool, Online design new cable route for customer, Online finding street shortest path that are make reducing time in everyday work. Online dynamic statistic business status, map of fault status that analysis from customers' complains, map of potential customers that analysis from charging data that quickly provide company a lot of interesting information about customers. All of them are very useful and powerful utilities tools that this thesis study can bring to the company for solving the current problems. Besides that this thesis study is also an attempt of using open source software such as PostgreSQL / PostGIS, Minnesota Mapserver, PHP, PHP Mapscripts, Apache HTTP server, HTML and Java Script for reducing to at least the money that company have to spend in developing In summary, the system not only provides useful information for telephone network operation and management, it can also be used for other purpose of company such as network planning, decision support and taking care of the customers |
