AbstractThis study aims to investigate natural regeneration and tree species composition of Streblus macrophyllus - Saraca dives - Amoora aff cuculata- Terminalia myriocarpa association in Cue Phuong National Park. The association locates 20°20.366 N and 105°36.477E. The area of association is about 18,390m2. 50 square plots (4m2) and 50 circle plots (50m2) were assessed. The vegetation of this association is 122 species under 96 genera and 60 families. This data include 927 trees belong to 68 species. We studied natural regeneration throughout stand structure and species composition of this association. In addition, light requirement for two importance value index species (Streblus macrophyllus and Saraca dives) were calculated. The number species in 8 edge plots is more abundant than inside plots, namely 37% species of all species. The number of Streblus macrophyllus seedling is 25.86% of all Streblus macrophyllus seedlings in 50 plots because the light intensity is suitable for its regeneration. The species composition of each phase is different. The species composition of 2 layers (seedling with sapling, seedling with mature and sapling with mature) are similar over 53%. Therefore, the forest dynamic will significantly change in species composition, not only for dominant species but also for others species in association
