Abstract | Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is introduced as a new delivery system approach that foster high efficiency in construction projects by delivering accurate informations and applying new technologies through a collaborative team environment. In this sense, through the traditional AIA (2007) framework this thesis analyzes and classify the IPD characteristics and collaboration level present at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project. This project is a collaboration contract between Vietnam, Korea and Japan that aims to improve the sanitation efficiency and awareness in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The characteristics analyzed in the project were the contract, process, information & modeling, team and communication. Such characteristics has a comprehensive review of existing research studies through in-depth literature review foundation by analyzing 193 research studies. In addition, a new proposal framework was created to compare and assess the AIA (2007) primarily results. The proposal framework applies a ranking point system through mathematical weight calculation and as a result classified the IPD collaboration level in a construction project. The results showed that WWTP was classified in both framework systems (AIA and proposal) with the lowest IPD level of collaboration. In addition, the IPD method demonstrated several advantages that could potentially impact the overall project outcomes such as accurate cost estimations, timing, waste reductions and higher team collaborations. |
