Align with its growth, multihabitats comprising of multi-functions and multi-societies have emerged endogenously surrounding the area, leading to haphazard growth that evoked a dichotomy between high productivity and environmental degradation. Considering the important role of Malioboro area to the city, it is important to sustain its multi-habitats so that it continues to grow with minimum environmental degradation. The purpose of this study is to propose policy measures that will enable to revitalize the environmental infrastructure system in the multihabitats of Malioboro area. The revitalization is through exploring the overall multihabitats characteristics and analyzing its relation to environmental infrastructure through a survey of stakeholders in the kampungs, businesses and government. The study finds that the revitalization could not be separated from socio economic revitalization and has to be approached in a holistic way. Based on the findings, the study proposes policy measures where regulatory, economic and suasive measures are proposed as tools to implement the policies |
