Abstract | The electric car was invented long time ago. However, because of two limitations, velocity and distance, the electric car could not develop strongly in comparing with internal combustion engine cars. In this research, the mechanical components were integrated with electrical circuit in order to extend the distance or increase the velocity with the same power consumption. This thesis focused on the design and fabrication of the revolution adjustable wheel module for electric cars. With the use of planetary gearbox, the range of velocity was extended. In order to control the wheel module, a program was developed in Labview. This program is used to navigate the wheel and adjust the velocity manually or automatically. This research also performs experiments to show that, by adding the gearbox the velocity range is extended and the efficiency is increased, so the electric car can adapt better when it runs on the road and two inherent drawbacks are improved |
