Abstract | Managing staff performance is an effective mechanism for developing both staff and organizational growth. Performance appraisal is one of the mechanisms that most organizations know and make use of it. However, there are a number of SME owners do not understand it well. Their meaning of the term "performance appraisal" may mean rating employees using a trait-based instrument-one looking at factors such as neatness, punctuality, etc., as opposed to focusing directly on work output. The evaluation process also tended to be everything depended on the owner one man show. The employee did not participate and was not told what rating he or she received. This style of performance appraisal is no longer considered as good practice. The purpose of this project is to try to understand the gap between owner and worker's point of view, and how to reduce that gap. As a result, it will help to increase the employees' productivity. Since the gap may be influenced by the factors as recruiting and selecting system, training and development, working environment, job itself, personality, capability, educational level, salary, promotion & reward, performance appraisal and also the satisfactory of employees which affect their performance. If the assumption and finding from this project study seem to be practical. It is not only a good benefit to the photo shop business owner but may also be introduced to the other SME business. |
