| Abstract | This research studies the impact of road construction on biodiversity in Dong Phouvieng. This research aims to uncover the cause of wildlife disappearance before and after road construction, reasons for hunting wildlife, factors that encourage villagers to participate in wildlife management and protection, and what supports the government should give to successfully manage and protect wildlife. The research result pointed out that road construction has both positive and negative impact on villagers' benefits and wildlife sustainability. Causes of hunting wildlife are high prices of wildlife, and no jobs to villagers to keep them year round busy as the crop is cultivated once a year in the lack of irrigation. Villagers can be encouraged and motivated by giving them roles in not only protecting but also utilizing wildlife. In order to managing wildlife protection and forest conservation and reservation some recommendations are provided for immediate implementation. Lastly, to provide strategies for managing wildlife protection and forest conservation and reservation in long term some further study topics are also given. |
