AbstractThe role of software architecture has changed. A number of software architecture design methods answering the needs of individual software systems have been developed but there are no available studies comparing them. Two methods for designing software architecture of individual software systems are ADD, and QASAR. In this thesis, an evaluation framework is introduced for comparing software architecture design methods for individual software systems. The framework considers the methods from the points of view of method context, user, structure and validation. The selected design methods are evaluated according to the framework and the results are described in the form of a comparison table. The comparison of the two design methods largely rested on the available literature and an actual use of the methods on a case study, WBEMS, where both methods were applied to design the software architecture.
