AbstractThis study deals with the general analysis aspects of production management to plan production of a magnetic oil level indicator for transformers. The major part of this study mostly focuses on production planning. The initial design is modified with the objective to reduce the number of part. Also one part is modified based on recommendation from users. A new shop floor layout, based on traditional machine tools, is designed for production in Vietnam. Optimization of job sequencing on the shop floor is also achieved. The study attempts to reach the best compromise of production with short lead-time and low manufacturing cost. Capacity analysis, cost estimation and lead-time computation is computed by Analysis of Queuing network software (CAN-Q). This analysis give the sensitivity of the plan relative to labor cost, capital cost, and utilization of labor and machining The study also dealt with the problems of manufacturing engineering. Mold design for a plastic cover is also included. CNC processing is studies as a comparison with traditional machining. A prototype of the main body is manufactured.
