Abstract | This study presents a hierarchical production planning for a multiple period consisting of an aggregate planning level and disaggregate planning level applied to Ford Limited Vietnam. The higher level aggregate production planning is expressed in terms of product family. Aggregate demand on the product family level is supposed to be deterministic at each period over the whole planning horizon. Ninety one different items belonging to thirteen models and grouped into seven families are produced. So the painting operation is the bottleneck in the whole process; the aggregate production planning is carried out for this operation. A multiple objective linear programming model is developed and solved by applying the method of Interactive Compromise Programming (ICP), which generates the weights for the objectives. This model is also implemented by Step Method (STEM) in order to see the advantages of applying the ICP method. The output of aggregate level is disaggregated at the lower level into a detailed plan for individual items. The detailed demand is required for each week of the first month of the planning horizon. An interface was designed in Visual Basic 6.0 to user who can import and export data from Excel spreadsheet to Lingo and vice versa. Moreover, the user can easily to use the two methods following a guide in the software. |
