AbstractIn the most country, the accident rate in the construction industry is higher than any other industries. For many years, safety practitioners tended to concentrate on physical preventive measures such as machine guarding, housekeeping, and inspection, apparently in the belief that physical conditions cause accidents while little preventive work was done with people. According to exploration of previous studies, it was obvious that inappropriate action of workers in construction industry was the major fundamental reason behind accidents. As a result, decision to err of individuals can be significant factors lead to unsafe acts of workers. Unfortunately, these unsafe acts are not properly addressed for identifying possible influential factors. Therefore, This study was undertaken to indicate the influential factors contributing to unsafe acts of Thai construction workers in current practice based on the data collected by using face to face interview with participation of 214 construction workers from 20 construction projects. Accordingly, unsafe acts of Thai construction workers were explored and decisions to err factors were carefully determined. This perspective can help in better identifying areas where prevention efforts should be directed. Thereupon, preventive measures for preventing accident occurrence can be effectively arranged.
