AbstractPetroleum process technology represents one of the most highly advance and progressive frontiers of modern scientific and engineering endeavor. This study describes the design and programming of an automation control system for the tank farm in Hai Phong-VietNam using the Programmable Logic Control (PLC), the automation technologies of Process Control Software (PCS7) and Human Machine Interface (HIM) with Window Control Centre (WinCC V 4.2) offered by Siemens. This model is an effort to accelerate the user's acceptance of automation equipment via developing convenient and safe operation-machine interface with comfortable process images and process-data representations. Use of PLC and HIM provide full graphicssupported display techniques for a secure control over the model at all time and will optimize process.
