Abstract | This study was conducted to identify cleaner production options in the production process
of frozen shrimp factory in Thailand. Currently, the frozen shrimp production was found
to consume 2400 tons of shrimp, 979200 kWh of energy and 78000 cubic meter of treated
deep ground water per year. The average annual production product was found to be1500
tons of frozen shrimp.
By adopting available technology, such as use heat exchanger, insulation and modified some
equipment to the productions process can save energy and water resources. Water
consumption can reduce from 114 m
3 to 54 m
3 in the cleaning process that is the largest
process to use water. Energy consumption can reduce from 630,888 kWh per year to 291,168
kWh per year. Also good house keeping practice must be taken all parts of production
processes. The results show that, cleaner production can conserve energy and water about
fifty percent leading to decrease of environmental impact
Nowadays cleaner production is increasing being recognised as a crucial element in
reconciling environmental and economic goals in the move towards sustainable
development However many of developing countries have problem to promote cleaner
production due lack the human, institutional, technical and financial capacity .To solve the
problems. It could be have the workshop discussion center around the role that
development assistance and technology co-operation can play in helping developing
countries in their efforts to mange technological change for cleaner production. |
