AbstractThe relationship between project management practices of the owner and the professional behaviors of the contractor in high-rise building construction projects in Myanmar are focused in this research. The project management practices of the owner are studied at the initial stage and then, relationships between these practices and professional behaviors in terms of collaboration and compliance behaviors are analyzed. Project management practices of the owner are grouped into 4 groups and these could be divided into 2 categories: owner and owner’s representatives. The first category is related with owner direcly such as the owner’s reponsibilities and project payment tactics, as well as, the second is related with the owner’s representatives’ project quality performance and monitor and control. Among the responsibility, project payment tactics of the owner, and project quality performance of owner’s representatives have relationships with both professional behavior of the contractor, the owner’s responsibility is the strongest relationship with the collaboration behavior. But for owner’s representative, project quality performance is the strongest relationship with the compliance behavior. In Myanmar, the project management practices under the owner’s responsbilities are still required to improve for making strong collaboration and compliance behavior of the contractor in the high-rise building projects.
